How do the hormonal changes take place and how can the diet regulate the proper balance of hormones:

Insulin and glucagon:
Insulin is one of the most important hormones which is affected by the diet of a person. Excess of carbohydrates makes the glucose enter the bloodstream. Thus, the pancreas is forced to release more of insulin than normal. However, from there the insulin gets attached to the glucose which is carried to the cells for the energy used by the body.
Besides insulin, glucagon is another hormone. When we do not eat for a very long period of time, the pancreas automatically releases glucagon. Thus, it serves as a signal and the liver starts converting glycogen into glucose so that the body can use it for the energy.

And when the body is resistant to insulin, the pancreas automatically tends to produce insulin. However, the cells in muscles, fat and liver are not in a proper response to the same. If the pancreas is not able to produce necessary insulin, then the level of blood sugar rises up and it eventually leads to diabetes. During the stage of menopause, there are many changes in the body. However, the excess of belly fat leads to the increased risk of diabetes in the body. Thus, we should take only that much calories which we can burn out in a day. Eat healthy carbohydrates like oats, whole grains, lentils, vegetables instead of unhealthy carbohydrates which are difficult to digest and lead to weight gain.

Estrogen:
Estrogen is the female sex hormones. They help in the regulation of menstrual cycle. It even helps to prepare the uterus for pregnancy. There is a massive fluctuation in the level of estrogen while a female body moves towards menopause. And as soon as you reach menopause, there is a sudden drop in the level of estrogen. Thus there are a lot of symptoms in the body that takes place during this transition period.

Taking a well nourished healthy diet can help to solve this problem. A diet which is rich in phytoestrogens helps to give up the symptoms of menopause. Eating soy helps to reduce the heart disease and also regulate the level of cholesterol in the body. It also helps to provide the relief to the problem of hot flashes. Besides this, you can also eat flaxseeds. They also contain estrogenic and anti-estrogenic but in a less proportion.

Cortisol:
The adrenal glands in the body help to secrete cortisol. Cortisol is the stress hormone of the body. Cortisol is necessary for human body but in a normal quantity. An increase of stress may lead to blood pressure, the stress level of the body and fat as well. Menopause is the time when the body accumulates maximum fat. Thus a balanced diet is necessary to take.

Caffeine and alcohol are said to increase the level of cortisol in the body. However, during menopause, it becomes difficult to manage it. Thus, try to limit your consumption of caffeine and even the amount of alcohol you intake. (What Causes Early Menopause In Women)
