We all know how beneficial holy basil or Tulsi can be for our health. From our childhood, we heard a lot about this plant and how it is have been used in Ayurveda and home remedies. Maybe that is why Tulsi is named as holy. But, as they say, every essential thing has side effects too. Tulsi also has some side effects which we are not aware of. Tulsi can make your blood become thin. However, that does not harm body much. But if anybody is on blood thinning medication, then consuming Tulsi can be harmful. It will make the blood thin. It causes difficulties in clotting of the blood. Else if you have problems with clotting your blood, consult with your doctor if you want to use Tulsi for any home remedy.
May cause difficulties in pregnancy:
Tulsi may prove to be a little dangerous during pregnancy. Not only just pregnancy difficulties it can trigger reactions in pregnant women like uterine contractions and excessive bleeding during labour. Holy basil contains iron which makes your teeth become stained and dull. Although this may not have a really bad effect on your teeth rather than discolouration. So, it is better to swallow its juice rather than chewing it repeatedly.
If you are taking the medicines for diabetes, you should take it by consulting with your doctor. It actually lowers your blood glucose in the body. If you observe that your body parts are shaking, there are signs of dizziness, irritation, then it might be due to hypoglycemia.
