What Are The Myths Of Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) occur by the infection which transfers to one sexual organ to another during intercourse. This infection generally does not show any symptoms. That is why people have built up various myths and ideas about this. The wrong information about these diseases makes sex, a taboo in the society. Of course, people have to be conscious while having sex, but this does not mean the myths should be believed.

Here are some common myths regarding Sexually Transmitted Diseases:

Myth: STDs cannot be transmitted by anal/oral sex, skin to skin contacts
Facts: Any type of sex can cause STD. Even just a physical contact can cause STD. The infection can enter the body through tiny cuts or tears in the mouth or anus. Myth: STDs are for trashy people:

Myth: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea is not serious diseases:
Fact: These diseases are serious if they are untreated. It might lead you to infertility for a lifetime. It even inflames the skin. Not only these two diseases but all STDs are serious if they are untreated.

Myth: You can get STDs from a toilet seat:
Facts: It is a very common myth around STDs. The germs of these diseases do not survive outside of the human bodies for so long. Hence, these germs destroy automatically on the outside area. This would not lead you to have STD by coming in contact with the toilet seat.

Myth: STD’s are for adults only:
Facts: This is an absolute guff statement. STD’s can happen to anybody of any age and gender. In fact, the germs are prone to attack younger people more than adults because at the young age people develop the reproductive systems in their body. Young women catch these diseases sooner than men.

Myth: There is no need for checkups if both of the partners don’t have STD:
fact: If you have checked yourself STD free, it is important for your partner to check this as well. You partner could have STD and you both do not know this. So, do not go blind. Checkups are important for a safe sex life.
